France (1700 pts) ahead of Portugal (1700 pts). Because France reached the semi finals in Bastia, Portugal was out in the quarter finals. So France had more match wins in the elimination round.
Austria (1050 pts) ahead of Norway (1050 pts). Equal Match wins in Bastia. No head to head. Also in the EFVL Major in Gamundia 2024 both countries lost the 8th finals and received 350 points. In the season 2023 Austria received 1850 points and Norway 1275 points.
This is the most recent ranking after the EFVL Finals 2000 in Bastia France. Last updated: Sept 3, 2024.
About the ranking
2024 is the eighth year with an official ranking system for countries with male athletes in the European Footvolley League. In 2019 we had a full Tour with 3 Qualifiers (EFVL Major 1000) and 1 EFVL Finals 2000 event. In 2021 we hosted only 1 final Championship in Germany. In 2022 we had an EFVL Major 1000 Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany and an EFVL Finals 2000 in Rome, Italy. In 2023 there were 5 tournaments: the EFVL Open 500 in Podersdorf, the EFVL Major 1000 in Schwäbisch Gmünd, the EFVL Open 500 in St-Laurent-du-Var, the EFVL Open 500 in Hartberg and the EFVL Finals in Albufeira. The current final ranking of 2024 is based on the EFVL Major 1000 in Schwäbisch Gmünd and the EFVL Finals 2000 in Bastia.
In case of tie breaks between countries we separated them with the following tie breakers:
Match wins
Head to head
Point difference
Ranking points system
This is the EFVL Major 1000 ranking point system used for all tournaments since 2016. In an EFVL Open 500 only 50% of these points will be given. In the EFVL Finals 2000 event at the end of a tour, these ranking points count double.
Points | Description | |
1000 | Winner | |
800 | Second place | |
700 | Winner 3rd place match
600 | Loser 3rd place match
500 (quarter finals) | Losers of quarter finals
350 (eight finals) | Losers of eight finals
200 (group stage) | Last in group |
At the start of the season EFVL uses the ranking points of the previous season to send invitations and calculate the seeding. After the first qualification tournament 50% of the points of the previous season are still counted together to 100% of the points of that first qualification tournament. After the second, third etc qualification tournaments only the points of the current season will be counted to calculate the seeding and send the invitations for the Finals.
How do countries qualify for the Finals?
The entire EFVL Tour is part of the European Championship of that year. There are 2 levels of qualification events: EFVL Major 1000 pts and EFVL Open 500 pts. The ranking after the last qualification event decides which member nations have a spot in the EFVL Finals 2000 tournament.
For the Men only the top 12 have a spot + the top 3 can send a 2nd team + the host nation (of the EFVL Finals) has an extra spot. The maximum number of teams per country is two. So if the host nation is also in the top 3 and already has a 2nd team, the member nation ranked on the 13th place will be invited. Also good to know, the winners of this EFVL Finals event are the official European Champions, no matter how many ranking points earned after the season.
